Philosophy

The Haute Feng Shui Philosophy

Here at Haute Feng Shui, our main priority is making sure your hair not only looks good but that it is also HEALTHY. The health of your hair depends on much more than just what we do in the salon. Our philosophy gives you tools to use, from coming in for an appointment or doing your hair at home. Our philosophy breaks down into three key categories: Internal. Product. Technique.

Internal

Internal is about how you care for your body and serves as your first line of defense regarding your hair. I am not a doctor; this is simply knowledge gained through years of personal experience, whether through myself or my clients. One of the main things I emphasize with each client is ensuring you're well-hydrated and taking vitamins. Staying on top of this can affect the quality of your hair in less than a week. This is particularly important for my soda and coffee drinkers because they are diuretics and steal 32oz of water from you. I recommend any multivitamins and omega-3s. Your body's main priority is protecting your vital organs, so when the going gets tough, your hair will fall to the back burner. So many factors can affect your hair's health: the quality of sleep you're getting, the amount of stress, your diet, etc. In high-stress situations, the last thing your body is worried about is your hair, but when you're drinking enough water and taking vitamins, your body still has enough nutrients to disperse your hair, even if it's in panic mode. Catering to yourself and your health serves as your first "keratin," it allows your hair to accept moisture better, fight against humidity, limit split ends, take color and blowouts better, and improves the overall health of your hair.

Product

Product refers not only to what products you’re using in your hair, i.e., shampoo, conditioner, etc. but also to the tools you use to style your hair. At Haute Feng Shui, we don’t necessarily believe in organic products but in top-quality, ethical products. Everything we use gets carefully picked to ensure no harsh chemicals like formaldehyde or sulfates are cruelty-free, efficient, and bond-preserving. Our main priority is maintaining the integrity of your hair, so we stray away from anything that could compromise that.

Technique

Technique refers to the methods you or your stylist use to style your hair. You can have all the right products, but if you don’t have the proper technique when using them, you won’t get the results you’re looking for. At home, it might be as simple as making sure your hair suds up all over, from root to tip, when shampooing to ensure it’s clean. For a stylist, it may look like making sure the blowdryer is constantly moving to ensure that there isn’t any heat damage when drying your hair.
